The following eats took place on 13 June 2010.

There’s not that much to say except that all my meals totally rocked it today. We hiked, swam in the Mediterranean, got a tan and had the most wonderful meals today at Cinque Terre. We started off with a hike to Cognilia, 4 km from Vernazza and found our place at Manarola, where we had a reservation at Aristide. Highly recommended by a friend as well as Trip Advisor. And all was good. I’ll keep my ramblings to a minimum and show you some food porn instead.

Spaghetti Vongole - my fave, with sweet clams and some amazing olive oil. Slurp!

Linguine with morton bay bugs...although they have a different name for it. It was delish.

Told you the pasta was good! All the delicious juices were mopped up as well.

My mains of grilled king prawns. Can't get any fresher than this!

Grilled swordfish. Yum! It was like eating a piece of juicy, fishy steak.

There was more hiking after lunch, through Via Della More...the lover's lane...followed by a cool gelati of limoncino & pompelmo

You would think that all we did was eat. Well, we did…but we did have normal breaks in between. After a sun drenched afternoon, we headed back to the hotel for a nap, and soon enough, it was dinner time again – I love vacations – eat, sleep, eat, sleep – it’s perfect! Anyway, we headed back to Vernazza for dinner, and went to a restaurant called Franzi.

If only we could have pastas followed by pastas...this was spaghetti with mussels. Succulent, sweet mussels with the tastiest pasta...

This area in Cinque Terre is known for their pesto. I had the most wonderfully, clean tasting pesto pasta.

Hubby's main of Ligurian Octopus casserole...It was meaty and tasted so sweet and fresh.

Fritto Misto - Mixed fried seafood. None of that heavily battered stuff...this was fresh and wonderful crisp.

Finishing off the meal with a shared tiramisu - look at the amount of cocoa powder! (Don't breathe in while eating!) It was good to the last mouthful. Light sweet cream, coffee soaked base...yum. All washed down with a shot of Limocello...
